Additional Support Needs Registration

Please note that Disclosure Scotland is currently prioritising checks for those working in health and care sectors. Applications will be processed as promptly as possible, but there may be a delay. For further information, please visit the Disclosure Scotland website.

Registration is available in Additional Support Needs (ASN). This registration covers the 3 to 18 years age range.

What are the requirements for ASN registration?

To apply for registration you will need to:

  • Be fully registered in a mainstream registration category (Primary Education or Secondary Education). Individuals with provisional registration in primary or secondary education who are considering seeking registration in ASN should contact us for advice.
  • Hold an appropriate ASN award - this award will need to:
    • be equivalent to a minimum of 60 Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF) credit points
    • be at SCQF level 9 or above
    • have included courses/ modules with a sufficiently broad and general content to cover pupils with a range of additional support needs, for example the Postgraduate Certificate/Diploma in Inclusive Practice

A list of awards that we currently accept appears below.

This isn't exhaustive and we are able to advise on the acceptability of other ASN awards provided that these are at SCQF level 9 or above, bear 60 credit points and include courses/modules with a sufficiently broad and general content to cover pupils with a range of additional support needs.
