Vacancy

Digital Engagement and Publications Coordinator (Corporate Services).
Salary Scale: £26,409 - £30,126. Grade 2c
Permanent – 35 hours per week

Role Description

The post of Digital Engagement and Publications Coordinator blends online communications (web content management, social media, media relations, digital campaigns and marketing) with supporting and developing GTC Scotland publications both hard copy and online. The post also provides wider communications support (media relations) to GTC Scotland, helping to deliver our key messages to our full range of stakeholders and staff.

An important aspect of the role is managing the day-to-day responsibilities of producing GTC Scotland's flagship magazine, Teaching Scotland, which issues to 76,000 teachers and stakeholders. With the decline in media coverage of education issues, the publication of this print magazine is more important than ever. The post holder will play a key role in ensuring the magazine is lively and engaging, and published to a high standard.

The post sits within the Corporate Services (CS) department and the post holder will be expected to contribute to the overall work of the department. The Director of Corporate Services will manage the performance review process for this post in conjunction with the Communications Manager.

Appointment of Presenting Officers and General Legal Services

Purpose of this Invitation to Tender

The paper below outlines GTC Scotland’s requirements for the provision of Presenting Officers and General Legal Services.

The role of Presenting Officer is an exciting opportunity for legal practitioners to get involved in professional regulatory work. GTC Scotland’s professional regulatory work has a high public profile and our hearings attract widespread media coverage. The work associated with the fitness to teach process is likely to represent the majority of the Presenting Officer’s role. However, there will also be a requirement to provide GTC Scotland with general legal advice covering a range of issues.

Presenting Officers will be instructed by a member of the Regulation team. A Regulation Officer will have been involved in the investigation and management of the case up to the point of referral to an appointed Presenting Officer. It is envisaged that work referred to Presenting Officer will be subject to in-house instruction and ongoing liaison.

In terms of the provision of general legal advice GTCS has a small team of in-house solicitors providing legal advice to the organisation. GTCS is seeking to appoint external legal advisers to support its in-house team. GTCS is seeking legal advisers who can provide a wide range of legal services and who have a good working understanding of the GTCS statutory framework, the public sector and professional regulation. GTCS is seeking expertise across a full range of legal disciplines, for example data protection, contract, employment, procurement, litigation and professional regulation.

The appointment will be offered to one firm of solicitors (or broadly the equivalent in terms of personnel in terms of advocate applicants) for a period of three years from April 2019. Subject to satisfactory performance, this may be extended by a period of one year.

Any successful individual or firm of solicitors will be required to sign a Service Level Agreement before their appointment begins.
